PvE vs PvP — Do You Need Separate Builds?

Build Recommendation Guide • Elden Ring

Many players wonder if their PvE build works in PvP. The short answer: some do, but optimization for each mode requires different priorities. Here's what changes and what stays the same.

Recommended Builds

#1: Rivers of Blood

Rivers of Blood S-Tier Dexterity/Arcane

Works in both PvE and PvP with minor talisman swaps. The most versatile build.

Why it works: For PvE: bleed synergy talismans. For PvP: swap to poise talismans and Bull-Goat armor. Same weapon, same stats, different accessories.

#2: Moonveil Magic

Moonveil Magic S-Tier Intelligence/Dexterity

Transient Moonlight is effective in both modes. Stars of Ruin adds PvP-specific pressure.

Why it works: PvE uses Moonveil for boss damage. PvP adds Stars of Ruin for tracking pressure. Swap talismans between modes but keep the same weapon and stats.

#3: Blasphemous Blade

Blasphemous Blade S-Tier Strength/Faith

Primarily PvE-focused but Taker's Flames has PvP applications with spacing.

Why it works: Blasphemous Blade is PvE royalty. In PvP, Taker's Flames can catch opponents, but the weapon is more predictable against real players. Consider a backup PvP weapon.
